So, the elections are
finally over. Now I can plug my home phone back in since I
won't be receiving a politically motivated taped call
every few minutes.
I did still vote,
however. I always do, even though I don't believe my vote
really matters very much. Even more distressing, I don't
believe elections really change very much, especially in
my day-to-day life.
I've lived through
Democrat-controlled governments and Republican-controlled
governments, but I don't think either has really affected
my life much.
Why should there be much
change?
Ultimately, it takes a
lot of money to run for and maintain political office.
Raising money has probably become the most important job
for most politicians, which makes most politicians
beholden to special interests. Consequently, if you are
not connected to those special interests, then the status
quo can probably be expected.
What do you think, do
elections really have much affect on your life? Is there
some big change in your life when power moves from one
party to the other?
Rate voting and
elections.
