Bad job review? What should you do?

Is it you or your boss?

O.K. Your boss gave you a bad review. The experts say, stay calm, reassess your review, try to improve communications with your boss, and make a plan for improvement.

I say nonsense, unless you really like your job and your boss.

Too many bosses just are not very good managers in the first place, nor are they competent at their job. Even worse, too many bosses play favorites - too often its all office politics. Unless, you love your job and your boss, then a bad review is the first sign that it's time to leave your job - one way or another things simply are not working.

Kissing the ass of a bad boss is simply going to make life more miserable.

Is your boss killing you?

A scene from the classic, Office Space

Is your boss bugging you? I mean REALLY bugging you?

Then he just might be slowly killing you, ever-increasing your stress until, POP! There goes your heart. Not you? Even kids are having heart attacks these days, so it is becoming far less uncommon for those in their 30s to have a heart attack because of stress.

O.K., so, maybe your boss isn't killing you, but the stress is still ruining your quality of life. What can you do?

Detach and Depersonalize, according to experts. Then get a little exercise and maybe even a message. "In one ear and out the other," as my father used to say.
