Are you a barfly

What's wrong with being a barfly?

I hit the bar, well, multiple bars, a couple of times per week. So what? A few drinks per day can be good for you. Besides, is the life of some uptight, valium-popping non-drinker really so much healthier?

YTsWorld: At the 35er

Rate your bartender

So, I had to pick up some socks and shoes in Old Town Pasadena. Before catching the goldline back home, I thought I'd stop by the 35er and have a quick 3 with Deb, the bartender.

I ordered a Guinness, which I haven't done in a while, and I was reminded of why Deb is such a cool bartender. Check out the guinness heart. Now that's a bartender. Oh yeah, and I had 3 Irish car bombs.

Favorite hangout bars

Where do you just chill and drink?

Sometimes you just want to go to your neighborhood bar, or a bar just down the street from where you work - a place to relax and have a few drinks. A hangout bar.

I used to go to the Cave, a great little bar in the Highland Park area of Los Angeles pictured on the left. Unfortunately, every time I stumbled out of that joint - and I always stumbled out - I wished I hadn't drank so much, but that's the CAVE, especially if you arrive early. Still, if ever in the area, this is a place worth checking out.

These days my hangout bar is the 35er in Old Towne Pasadena, especially on Fridays. It's just a for some good conversation and cool bartenders. So, if you check the place out, tell Bobby I sent you.

Freddie's 35er in Pasadena

The best dive bar in Pasadena. PERIOD

No B.S., if you are not some Hollywood wannabee-poser, the 35er is by far the best bar in Old Towne Pasadena.

O.K., let me be fair, I only come here on certain days, mostly. I come here for happy hour on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays because Deborah Blanco is such a cool bartender. Yes, I do come here on days when Deborah isn't working, but Deborah's shifts are particularly enjoyable (By the way, click here to see cool art from Deborah Blanco).

What's to love about the 35er?

No pretentiousness. Plain and simple. It's just a good old fashioned pub in the Middle of Pasadena's rich-yuppy-hangout.
