Will 2008 be better than 2007?

Will big brother be watching you?

Now that it is 2008 I'm left wondering whether 2008 will be better than 2007. Is the world becoming a better place or a worse place, or is it, as it has always been, relative?

I want to believe that the world is becoming a better place, but I don't see it. And my belief isn't based upon US foreign relations, but life in the US. When I was shopping over this Holiday season I couldn't believe how many rude people I encountered. I remember when the Holiday season used to be so refreshing because rude people stopped acting rude for a few days - not any more.
