Does Jacksonville have a chance?
Can Jacksonville upset the Patriots? Most of the teams that have played the New England Patriots well this year were tough, smash-mouth football teams. The Steelers and the Ravens tried to run over the Patriots and both almost succeeded. Yet, the Patriots proved, as they have done all season, if you give them an inch they'll take a yard.
Jacksonville seems to be a team on a roll right now, playing their best football as they head into the playoffs. The Jaguars, I believe, won't be afraid of the Patriots, won't be intimidated by their undefeated record. Rather, I think the fact that no one thinks Jacksonville has no chance against the Patriots is the perfect situation for the Jaguars. They have nothing to lose.
Still, the Patriots are possibly the best team ever. The Jaguars will have to pound and pound the Patriot defense and hope that the veteran linebackers of the Patriots will finally feel their age in the fourth quarter.
More important, however, will be the Jaguars defensive game plan. If the Jags don't make a habit of hitting Brady early and as often as possible, the Jags might come close, but that's as close as they will come.
