Let's be honest. Not one team dominated college football this year the way, say, USC did a few years ago. There are, easily, probably 10 teams that deserve a shot at the title game. All 10 controlled their destiny. All 10 failed and put their fate in the hands of the system that ranked the teams all year.

So, what's the problem? The BCS have never been perfect, but it has always been pretty close.

Even a BCS championship playoff wouldn't be perfect because it's still subjective. As the NCAA Basketball Championship demonstrates year after year, and as this year of college football demonstrated - upsets happen. Thus, a real playoff in college football would have to be more inclusive than just the Top 10 teams. If a BCS playoff were formed, teams just outside the BCS rankings would complain that the polls weren't correct, and they would have a solid argument.
