Tiger Woods: My hero

Rate the Tiger Woods story. What's an apology worth?

So, Tiger Woods gave his apology today. I missed it. I don't care. Tiger Woods is a golfer. That's it.

Others were a little harsher.

"There's nothing he can say in my book," said Glenn Llopis, the founder of the Center for Innovation & Humanity, a California-based think tank, "that would make me view him as authentic and genuine and human again."

What a tool! Geez, Mr. Llopis, how f'n humane of you. How can you expect to promote humanity if you can't forgive? What a hypocritical joke.

Today, Tiger is my hero, and I don't care if he meant his apology or not. I only want to watch him golf again. That's it. I could give a crap about his endorsement deals, or his personal life as long as he doesn't commit a crime.

And for the lunatics out there spinning a yarn about whether Tiger meant it or not, get a life.

Rate the Tiger story. Much ado about nothing or am I missing something here?

Ideas for change: Vote out the incumbents

Partisanship has led to gridlock that now severely threatens the strength of America. It's time to vote out the incumbents.About as efficient as Congressional partisanship?

Dysfunctional. That's what Senator Evan Bayh, a centrist Democrat, called Congress earlier this week.

So what? It's just politics as usual, right?

Wrong. Economists are worried that decades of such partisanship coupled with the current recession have pushed America to the tipping point of great danger, particularly in terms of America's every growing and staggering large national debt. Yet, few politicians seem interested in anything other than blame, although most experts believe that both sides are deserving off blame according to a recent NYTimes piece.

Really, can there be any doubt that our politicians are failing us, on both sides of the aisle?

Isn't it simply time to start anew? Isn't it time to vote out the incumbents, regardless of party? Isn't it time for real change?

No war talk Jack, please - Music Talk

Just sing and play, jack

Dammit! There is nothing worse than getting to know too much about people, especially famous people. Too often, almost always, they disappoint. In the end they are usually just like you and me - FLAWED - but with more money.

Anyway, I'm a HUGE fan of Jack White, but then he had to go and open his mouth on politics and wars.

Turns out the US Air Force ripped off Jack's "Fell in Love with a Girl" for their Super Bowl ad, without his permission.

Sue 'em, please. I don't have a problem with that. Instead, however, Jack had to go off about "a war he doesn't support". War? Please, just stop. War? Why not throw in the evils of capitalism, something in which every successful entertainer knows well?

I mean, honestly, I don't give one F what Jack White thinks about whatever war he is talking about. If Jack wants to rage against the machine - into which he feeds tons of profits - then start where you can actually have an effect. Save the public service announcements for those with washed up careers.

Besides, if you really don't like the war, Jack, write a fricken song about it. Maybe I'll buy it, maybe I won't, but I'll respect you more.

The bias of the LA Times?

The ominous storm of the Republican come back? YT wonders whether the lead caption and this photo are just a coincidence. Actually, he's certain there was no coincidence. Rock stars can change the world?

What is the voice of popularity worth?

So, you've probably heard that Madonna was booed at a concert, but she wasn't booed because her music sucked. Instead, Madonna made some comments regarding racism and homophobia.

While I empathize with all of Madonna's comments, I wonder if they are helpful? Ultimately, isn't it human nature to detest lecturing?

If racism against Gypsies - in this instance - is something Madonna wants to take on as a cause, wouldn't it be more productive to just demonstrate her affinity with the Gypsy culture?

Or, does her action create a conversation that ultimately helps Gypsy culture?

I say quit in as dramatic a fashion as possible, but that's not very good advice for most people, unless you have a solid plan for dealing with your job loss. Even then it probably isn't a very good idea.

Fortune, on the other hand, has a nice plan for dealing with bad, micro-managing bosses. Check it out.

Hot or Not: Pearl Jam's Fixer

Pearl Jam in Toronto recently

I was in college when Pearl Jam hit the college music scene. They were not as suicidal as Nirvana, but still pretty damn angry. Yet, there was something very genuine about their sound and Ten became one of my favorite albums.

Since Ten I've bought almost every Pearl Jam record, but they've never hit a new level. Lots of quality work, nothing quite as emotionally resonate.

And then the other day I caught The Fixer on KROQ. As soon as I heard it I knew it was Pearl Jam, and I waited for the anger, the hate. Soon I was bobbing my head along to the beat as I listened to the vocals.

Why so upbeat I instantly wondered? Where is the angst? How about some damn Bush bashing for crying out loud?

Instead, something that almost sounded like, well, and I hate saying this, I really do,....but I heard something that sounded like hope.

I don't know what the hell happened to Ed, but it sure sounds pretty damn good. Makes me very interested in the upcoming Backspacer album.

Damn, are Ed and I becoming mature?

Good customer service at Chase?

Rate your latest customer service experiences.A good bank?

I haven't always been happy with my Chase Credit Card. Nonetheless, I had a problem with my credit card that required a call to customer service, and to my surprise I actually received great customer service.

The customer service representative was courteous and helpful. Sure, she tried to upsell me on a few new programs, but once I said no, that was that. On top of that she even waived one of my fees.

Not bad for a big evil bank.

A 1900% beer tax?

Several Oregon politicians want to increase the tax on beer to help the state raise money. The legislation would mean that a pint of beer that costs $4.50 would cost $6.00. I say this lunacy deserves punishment.

Hemp t-shirt design contest. Join our campaign to legalize hemp. The Founding Founders were hemp farmers

That's right. George Washington and Thomas Jefferson grew weed. They didn't just grow weed, they wrote about the virtues and importance of hemp to the American economy.

Hemp has played an extremely important role in history. And, despite the fact that you can't even get high if you smoked it, hemp farming is still illegal because it looks like marijuana.

I didn't know looks could kill.
