Is organic food worth it?

Study questions nutritional value of organic produce

Organic foods are quickly increasing in favor with food consumers throughout the world, although I'll bet rising food prices are decreasing this trend. Nonetheless, one must ask, is organic food better for you? According to "a new study by the University of Copenhagen which revealed that organic foods contained no more nutrients than non-organic foods grown with the use of pesticides," the answer would be no. Such a result really shouldn't be a surprise. A more important question that needs to be answered in terms of health: Do chemical fertilizers and pesticides affect a human's health more in those that eat organic foods versus non-organic foods, especially after a life time of eating. Is there any negative chemical residue?

Equally as important, which is better for the environment? Which is more green? To that question there is no doubt that chemical fertilizers and pesticides are getting into tributaries throughout the world and affecting water eco-systems. Likewise, these chemicals have also found their way into ground water sources. Moreover, in terms of carbon, there is no doubt organic is better.

Organic food is another dumb fad. Once we have a few cold winters, dispelling all this global warming nonsense, organic food will be but a fond memory.
