Rate yourself: Lying Sheep - Are you an average human?
January 15th, 2009
Liars and followersMan, we humans are a real joke. According to numerous studies, humans are typically a bunch of followers. Sheep. Ironically, however, half us don't think we're sheep. Half us are outright liars. We're in denial. It's everyone else that is the mindless follower. At least that's what I'm figuring based on some info on CNN today. In the article Why so many minds think alike, CNN covers decades of research showing "people tend to go along with the majority view, even if that view is objectively incorrect." Yet, CNN is running a poll on their home page. It asks "How often do you alter your opinions to match those of the crow around you? According to the latest data, 3% of respondents said they do this all the time. 52% some of the time. 45% of us, despite the evidence to the contrary, claim we never do it. Liars and sheep, folks. Rate yourself. Do you lie and follow a crowd? I try not to, but I'm sure there are many times I do. In fact, I know I do it at times just because it's the path of least resistance. Is that really so bad? Rate yourself.
