Should the NFL changes its overtime rules
January 6th, 2009
Much ado about a coin tossI've never really thought much of the NFL's OT rules. In fact, I think I like the NFL's Over Time policy better than College Football's policy. Nonetheless, since Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts lost to San Diego in the playoffs, the idea of changing the NFL's OT rules has received quite a bit of press. All of it has made me think that I now also believe that the NFL's OT rules should be changed, though not to those of college. I think they should just play another quarter, just as baseball plays another inning. Maybe you could even make the quarters shorter, or let the clock run, or various other rules that would speed up the game. Most important, let's let the field and the teams decide the game, not who wins the coin toss. Rate the NFL's OT rules. Should they be changed? |
