Lies and deception - Customer service at Best Buy
I buy quite a bit of electronics from Best Buy. Recently, I bought a small camera to carry around in my pocket when a bigger camera wasn't feasible. Since it was a business expense, I decided to purchase the $30.00 warranty, mostly because the sales woman told me that if anything went wrong, Best Buy would simply replace the camera.

Well, the camera isn't working. Yet, when I took it into Best Buy in Pasadena, California, the Geek Squad rep told me there would be a 12 day turn around as this was a 'service contract' not a 'replacement' contract.

Thus, the salesperson simply lied to me, probably because I'm guessing she received some kind of bonus for this outright fraud.

I'm considering letters to the manger, regional manager and the corporate VP of customer service. Am I over-reacting?

Shouldn't I at least be refunded the $30.00? Just because it's a small sum of money, does that making lying justifiable?

Has the customer service at Best Buy failed you on warranty issues? Or, have you had good customer service at Best Buy?

This must be standard operating procedures for best buy. I had the same experienc with an ipod i purchased for my son. The ipod stopped working properly and I returned it to best buy for replacement but instead they would only send it to a service center to be replaced with a reconditioned ipod. Not only would I have to wait for a replacement but because it was being replaced with a reconditioned ipod it would only have a 90 day warranty instead of the one year warranty or a new one.
