Quality: Perez Hilton v. Ann Coulter
January 5th, 2009
Perez Hilton - Every mother's dreamI absolutely believe in free speech. So, when I heard that NBC was considering a ban against conservative Ann Coulter, I knew I had to investigate the story. Apparently, NBC executives floated the ban idea because Coulter's new book Guilt takes a pretty harsh stand against what Coulter believes is an extreme liberal bias in the media. Apparently, she also takes a few shots a President-Elect Barack Obama. Thus, NBC pulled her from an episode of the Today Show. Instead, celebrity blogger Perez Hilton took her place. That's right, Perez Hilton, the blogger whom has gotten rich and famous on reveling in America's sick obsession with Hollywood and stardom. What would the world do without Hilton? His contributions to America are no doubt Nobel-worthy, right? While I give kudos to Hilton's business sense, and completely advocate his right to free speech, I'm certain that many of Hilton's political and moral beliefs are just as controversial to conservatives as Coulter's are to liberals. Is that not then media bias? There is no doubt that Fox New for instance, has an extreme conservative bias. Doesn't this act prove that stations, such as NBC, also have bias? Also, is Perez Hilton really so much more worthy than Ann Coulter? While I find Coulter to be a bit abrasive, and I disagree many things she claims, she is an extremely strong, intelligent woman. Is NBC afraid of strong, independent women? Rate Perez Hilton versus Ann Coulter. Is either really more noble and respectable than the other? |
