It pains me to question
One.org. Why? Because One.org is associated with my idol, Bono.
Nonetheless, I have to take a few shots at One.
I can't stand most
celebrity-driven charities. I'm sorry, but if these issues mean
so much to these celebrities, then set aside a few million
apiece - which is far more than the average citizen of the world
will EVER make - and use the rest of your collective
billions to put your money where your mouths are. I can't
help but envision the movies Schindler's list when Schindler
realized that all of his money could have been used to save
lives instead of buying luxury.
Bono and George Clooney,
for example, live like kings. Each has far more power than
the average politician and FAR more wealth. Until they start
using a significant percentage of their great wealth to fight
AIDS and poverty, I can't take their calls for action seriously.
They say any publicity is good
publicity for celebrities. So why should I be so impressed with
their publicity ads?
Show me the money.
Rate celebrities in charity
ads. Do celebrities do enough with their great wealth?
