| When the reports
first came in regarding the bombing in Pakistan that might have
killed al-Zawahiri, most in the press were hopeful. Soon;
however, Pakistan was protesting the bombing while claiming that
all killed were civilians.
It didn't long for the left
side of the blogosphere to cite this as another example of the
failure of Bush and the Republicans in fighting the war on
terror.
Today; however, a new report
claims that a top al Qaeda master bomb maker was killed in the
blast, along with several other members of al Qaeda.
In fact, al-Zawahiri was
supposed to be at the dinner that was bombed, but it seems he
didn't show up. Nonetheless, al Qaeda was present and al Qaeda
members did die.
So, did the U.S. go to far in
attacking al Qaeda, considering the civilian casualties?
Back in the '90's Clinton had
such opportunities to attack Bin Laden, but chose not to because
of potential civilian casualties, or the death of some Middle
Eastern, al Qaeda-supporting, emir that might have caused some diplomatic
tensions.
Of course, had Clinton took
those opportunities, the 2nd WTC bombing might not have
happened.
If Bush is a moron, he is at
least a fearless moron.
So, did the U.S. and the
'right' go too far in killing these al Qaeda members, or is the
'left' just too soft on terrorism?
